The two NCAA semifinals Saturday averaged a total of 14 million viewers, an 11% decrease from last year’s games on CBS. That number included viewers of the main coverage on TBS along with the school-specific “TeamCasts” on TNT and truTV. Turner Sports and CBS did not receive network-by-network ratings breakdowns from Nielsen. TBS is in about 14%t fewer homes than CBS. This was the first time the semifinals were on cable.
NBC broke CBS’ four night winning streak by leading broadcast networks. At 8P, NBC began the evening with ‘Dateline’ which drew 4.36 million viewers. At 9P, ‘Dateline’ had 5.67 million viewers. And at 10P, a rerun of ‘Saturday Night Live’ finished with 2.47 million viewers.
CBS at 8P began the evening with a rerun of ‘Person of Interest’ and it drew 2.48 million viewers. At 9P, a rerun of ‘Criminal Minds’ finished with 3.12 million viewers. And at 10P, ’48 Hours’ finish with a network and an evening broadcast high of 4.46 million for the evening.
ABC began at 8P with a rerun of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and it came in with 1.49 million viewers. At 9P, a rerun of ’20/20′ finished with 2.27 million viewers. And at 10P, ‘Nightline Prime’ finished with a network high of 3.19 million viewers.
FOX at 8P was the finale night of the very good but low rated ‘Rake’. In the first hour was a rerun which drew 998,500 opposite the NCAA Final Four. At 9P, the finale of ‘Rake’ pulled in 1.04 million viewers. It went out on a high at 930P with 1.12 million viewers. After all, what are you going to watch…Wisconsin & Kentucky on TBS or ‘Rake’. NBC finished #1 among broadcast networks on Sunday with 4.17 million viewers. CBS finished next with 3.37 million viewers as ABC came in with 2.32 million viewers. FOX had 1.02 million viewers on average.

Jermain Jackman became the first male winner of ‘The Voice UK’, landing a major record deal as his prize.
Channel 4 had the top program on Saturday as the ‘Grand National’ drew 8.28 million fans and an astounding 54.6% share of the available audience in the 15 minutes from 415P. This is down slightly from last year’s 2013 total of 8.41 million and 2012’s finish with 10 million viewers, the last race on BBC1.
BBC One however had a big night of its own. ‘The Voice UK’ final averaged 6.60 million viewers and a strong 30.7% share of the available audience last night. It was down about 10% from last year’s finale. The show did peak with 8.33 million viewers and a 37.9% share of the available audience in the final 5 minutes of the program when the winner was announced. ‘The Voice UK’ Final ratings over the past three years were: 2012 – 7.14m/34.2%; 2013 – 7.24m/34.8% and 2014 – 6.60m/30.7%.

ABC1’s ‘Death In Paradise’ was #1 in Australia on Saturday. In this episode, the murder of a local gigolo brings DI Goodman and his team in contact with the social elite of Saint-Marie.
Seven finished #1 on Saturday with 32.2% share of the available audience but ABC1 powered through for #2 with 25.8% share; Nine (24.2%), Ten (12.8%) and SBS (5.0%).
ABC1 had the #1 program and the #1 drama in ‘Death In Paradise’ as 1,040,000 tuned in with 269,000 in Sydney; 317,000 in Melbourne, 218,000 in Brisbane, 114,000 in Adelaide and 122,000 in Perth. It was the top program of the night in Sydney. ABC1 also had the #2 program with ‘Midsomer Murders’ which was the only other program drawing over one million viewers on Saturday, with 1,009,000. It was more popular in Melbourne (270,000), Brisbane (235,000) and Adelaide (125,000) than ‘Death In Paradise’. Perth had the same viewership for both. ABC1’s ‘ABC News’ finished #4 with 872,000 viewers. The #7 program was ‘Gardening Australia’ which drew 489,000 viewers.
Seven’s top program was the #3 program in the nation, and the top newscast, ‘Seven News’ which drew 966,000 viewers. It was the top newscast of the night in Melbourne (370,000 viewers). The #6 program was ‘Seven’s AFL: Saturday Night Football’ with 517,000 viewers. This was the #1 program on the night in Melbourne (437,000 viewers). The #8 program was ‘Seven’s AFL: Saturday Night Football-Pre Match’ with 432,000 viewers.
Nine finally got into the Top Ten with the #5 program, ‘Nine News Saturday’ with 855,000 viewers. It also had the #9 program on Saturday with the movie, ‘Shrek Forever After’ which drew 399,000 viewers. And the network completed the Top Ten with #10, ‘Getaway’ which drew 363,000 viewers.
