This Weekend in 1942, ‘The Mummy’s Tomb‘ was directed by Harold Young. It starred Lon Chaney Jr, Dick Foran and John Hubbard.

This weekend in 1942, ‘White Christmas‘ Bing Crosby with the Ken Darby Singers and John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra was the #1 record. This was the first of eleven weeks at #1. It was first seen in Holiday Inn (1942), with Martha Mears (vocal dubbed over the actress Marjorie Reynolds). It was written by Irving Berlin. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the version sung by Bing Crosby is the best-selling single of all time, with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. The original recorded version follows:

The latest social media stats include this: Americans spend 25% of their time on social media.YouTube has viewers now watch 1 billion hours of video each day. 85% of digital video viewers will be YouTube viewers as daily usage of YouTube, is estimated the video-sharing platform will reach 185.9 million monthly US users in 2017 Facebook having 2.047 billion monthly users watching 8 billion videos each day. In addition, 81% of all shares come from Facebook. 41% of Millennials use Facebook every day. And, there are now 5 million active advertisers on its platform, up from 4 million in September 2016 and 2 million in February 2015. Instagram has 700 million users of which 250 million are daily users. 88% of Twitter users are on mobile. An average of 500 million tweets are sent every day with 320 million active users. Twitter had 9 million new members sign up in Q1 2017. The Google+1 button is hit 5 billion times per day. 80% of Internet users on Pinterest are female. Eighty-one percent of US consumers use Facebook regularly, compared with Google (79%), Twitter (43%) and Instagram (40%), System1 Research reported.

Pinterest has 110 million monthly active users. LinkedIn has 347 million registered members with 100 million active users. Tumblr has 555 million users and Weibo has 100 million daily users. Skype has 300 milllion active users and there are 1.000 billion users on Whatsapp. With 900 million active users on Facebook Messenger, 60 billion messages are sent via Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp every day, each with over 1 billion daily users. Millennials Prefer Digital for All Communications. A September 2017 survey of young adult internet users in select countries painted an interesting—and yet unsurprising—picture of their typical day-to-day interactions, per Rimma Kats writing in eMarketer. The study from LivePerson, a provider of cloud-based mobile and online business messaging solutions, surveyed 4,013 internet users ages 18 to 34 in six countries: Australia, Germany, France, Japan, the UK and the US. In the US and the UK, nearly three-quarters of respondents said they were more likely to communicate digitally—whether via email, SMS or social media—rather than in person. Similar results were seen in Australia and France, where at least 61.0% of respondents said they communicate digitally as opposed to in person. In Germany, however, the outcome was nearly split. While 49.9% of respondents said they communicate more digitally, 50.1% said they interact more with a person face to face. Perhaps these digital interactions stem from people’s obsessions with their devices. The study also asked respondents how they interact with their mobile device on a regular basis. Roughly seven in 10 said they sleep within arm’s reach of it, while nearly two-thirds said they bring it to the bathroom. And over half said that if they woke up in the middle of the night, they would check their device. And it’s not just millennials who are obsessed with their gadget. Younger users, specifically teens, are as well. A Q4 2016 survey of teen internet users worldwide from GlobalWebIndex found that on a typical day, this group spends 3 hours, 38 minutes surfing the web via their smartphones.

Remember, social media marketing isn’t always the tech. It’s the people.

Today, traditional TV still accounts for the lion’s share of video viewing, but online and mobile are where the growth is. When managed together, TV/digital/mobile hold the potential to drive real impact for advertisers—enabling them to maximize the customers they reach and/or reinforce key messaging across screens. After all, ‘It’s all about screens’.
