On this date in 1941, radio station W71NY (WOR-FM ‘World Of Radio’) in New York becomes the first commercial FM broadcaster to sign an advertiser to a contract. Joseph Creamer, promotion and research director of the station, was able to convince companies that the FM subscribers were a valuable audience. It was the first FM station in NYC.
