Today, traditional TV still accounts for the lion’s share of video viewing, but online and mobile are where the growth is. When managed together, TV/digital/mobile hold the potential to drive real impact for advertisers—enabling them to maximize the customers they reach and/or reinforce key messaging across screens. For Tuesday, September 29, 2015 (Posted on September 30, 2015)
CBS
The Tiffany Network let out its complete and powerful lineup Tuesday and came home with the #1 network position. At 8P, the world’s most watched drama, ‘NCIS’, with an episode titled ‘Personal Day’ won its time slot and the evening as the top program with an average 16.530 million viewers and a 10.4/17. But did you notice that Tony never answered Gibbs question: do you want to be a leader, or not? At 8P, ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ finished with an average 12.860 million viewers and a 8.0/13. At 10P, the new drama, ‘Limitless’ finished with an average 9.730 million viewers and a 6.3/11.
NBC
The Peacock Network put up it new Tuesday lineup to try an unseat Black Rock with reality and variety. At 8P, the two-hour ‘The Voice’ finished with a respectable 13.600 million viewers and an 8.8/14. At 10P, ‘Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris’ finished with an average 5.990 million viewers and a 4.0/7.
ABC
The Alphabet Network had a bit of a problem as its lead off dropped like a rock. At 8P, ‘The Muppets’ fell 28% from its premiere last week to finished with an average 5.780 million viewers and a 4.2/7. The viewers who took a look at the first episode may have found it to be very dated and a bit like a rerun. Just sayin that it may not hold up well in the second decade of the 21st Century. Shockingly, it was the top program on the night on Disney’s Big Boy Network. At 830P, ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ finished with an average 4.740 million viewers and a 3.3/5, as ‘The Grinder’ beat it by 13%. At 9P, the season premiere of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ in now its third season finished with an average 4.900 million viewers and a 3.4/5. Then at 10P, a further sampling of the season premier rerun of ‘Quantico’ finished with an average 4.210 million viewers and a 3.1/6. There is not much continuity in this schedule as it goes from old comedy format to a new comedy, to a comic strip feature to a drama. If there is a line of audience building in this missmash of a programming schedule, let us know.
FOX
The Animal Network of Broadcast brought out its new Tuesday lineup for the first time. At 8P, the series premiere of ‘Grandfathered’, starring John Stamos, finished with an average 5.340 million viewers and a 4.0/6. Then at 830P, the series premiere of ‘The Grinder’, starring Rob Lowe, Fred Savage and William Devane, finished with an average 4.980 million viewers and a 3.8/6. At 9P, the second episode of ‘Scream Queens’ finished with an average 3.460 million viewers and a 2.5/4. But it has a hidden secret. Last week it exploded on Twitter and have a remarkable growth in its Live+3 ratings as it went from an initial live rating of 4.04 million viewers to a Live+3 rating of 7.3 million viewers.
The CW
The Little Network That Couldn’t failed miserably on Tuesday. At 8P, ‘The iHeartRadio Music Festival’ fell 14% from last year as it finished with 890,000 viewers and a 0.6/1. In other words, who cares about this program.
Late Night
At 1135P, NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ finished with an average 2.8/8. CBS’ ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ finished with an average 2.6/7. ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ finished with a 1.9/5. At 1235A, NBC’s ‘Seth Meyers’ finished with a 1.3/5. CBS’ ‘James Corden’ finished with a 1.2/5. ABC’s ‘Nightline’ finished with a 1.2/4. At 135A, NBC’s ‘Last Call with Carson Daly’ finished with a 0.8/4.
For The Record
CBS finished #1 Tuesday with an average 12.734 million viewers and an 8.2 rating and a strong 14 share of the available audience. NBC finished second with an average 10.931 million viewers and a 7.2/12. ABC finished #3 with an average 4.763 million viewers and a 3.4/6. FOX finished with an average 4.335 million viewers and a 3.2/5. Univision finished with an average million viewers and a 1.1/2. Telemundo finished with an average 1.300 million viewers and a 0.9/2. The CW finished with an average 910,000 viewers and a 0.6/1.
