CBS
The Tiffany Network pulled off a rare Saturday win as it began at 8P with a rerun of ‘Hawaii Five-0’ with a great episode which was shown at the beginning of this season as Wo Fat was at his very best. On the DNA will tell. It drew 2.7 million viewers. At 9P, a rerun of ‘CSI’ pulled in 3.34 million viewers. But at 10P, ’48 Hours’ with an original episode, something rare on CBS these days, drew 5.34 million viewers, good for the top program of the night.
NBC
The Peacock Network began the evening with its big power, ‘Dateline’ and it drew 4.39 million viewers, top in its time spot from 8P-10P. But at 10P, a rerun of one of the best episodes of ‘The Blacklist’ could only draw 2.52 million fans.
FOX
The Animal Network of Broadcast had at 8P, ‘Major League Baseball’ as the split regional schedule featuring the Central Division leading Milwaukee Brewers defeating the Cincinnati Reds on an 8th inning two run home run by Ryan Braun, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beating the Atlanta Braves in a lop- sided score of 11-6 in favor of the Halo’s, drew 2.33 million viewers
ABC
The Alphabet Network didn’t do so well on Saturday. At 8P, ”Bet On Your Baby’ drew 1.9 million viewers. And at 9P, ‘Sing Your Face Off’ drew only 2.24 million, last in both hours. So much for strange named television shows. Perhaps everyone was watching the ‘World Cup’ on Disney’s ESPN.
For The Record
CBS was #1 on broadcast on Saturday with 3.794, just 26,000 viewers ahead of the Peacock Network. NBC finished second with 3.768 million viewers. FOX finished third with 2.325 million viewers. ABC came in fourth with 2.127 million viewers.

Across The Pond
To say football was king in the UK on Saturday would be an understatement.
BBC One had the ‘2014 World Cup’ on Saturday and its coverage of England vs Italy, ending in a defeat for the Three Lions as Mario Balotelli clinched a headed winner early in the second half, averaged 11.51 million (68.4%) between 1020P and 130A. England’s opening World Cup match against Italy peaked at 15.39 million (76.4%) last night while viewing figures for the game were at its highest at around 1130P during the first half, which saw England’s Daniel Sturridge cancel out Claudio Marchisio’s long-range goal. at 1245A, 12.08 million viewers (83.6%) were still around during the match’s final few minutes.
Regardless, these were huge numbers in the UK. Anytime you get over 50% share in this day in age, that is the definition of dominance.
ITV was in on the action of football as well. Earlier in the day, an average of 5.46 million viewers (28.6%) watched Costa Rica create a great upset, beating Uruguay 3-1. The match peaked at its conclusion with 7.11 million viewers at 945P.
Watch out for Thursday. England, while sitting in third place in Group D as a result of yesterday’s matches and will face Uruguay next on Thursday (June 19), with the game starting at 8P UK time.
