NBC was #1 with 16.58 million viewers for the night day of the ‘Winter Olympics’ from Sochi, Russia Federation. It was down over 33% from the same day of the previous Winter Olympics and less than last Saturday. The big event on this day was the USA’s hockey victory over Russia, 3-2 in a shoot out. But unfortunately, it was telecast back to the U.S. at breakfast time.

ABC finished #2 with a presentation all evening of the movie ‘Dreamgirls’ and it pulled in 2.27 million viewers.

CBS had at 8P a rerun of ‘Undercover Boss’ which drew a #2 time slot delivery of 2.27 million viewers. At 9P, a two-hour edition of ’48 Hours’ could only manage 1.65 million viewers against the competition.

FOX decided to run for the third time the same rerun of ‘Rake’ at 8P which drew 1.01 million viewers watching the ‘Amish Bakers’ episode. It was decidedly funny and serious and totally Greg Kinnear. The first half hour drew 1.09 million, the peak of audience on FOX on Saturday. At 9P, another rerun of ‘The Following’ drew 1.02 million viewers.

NBC finished #1 with 16.58 million viewers. ABC was #2 with 2.27 million viewers. CBS finished #3 with 1.97 million viewers and FOX finished #4 with 1.01 million viewers.

Across The Pond
While BBC 2 was the most watched channel for much of Saturday in the U.K. with the ‘Winter Olympics’ BBC One took the top program of the night.

BBC One had ‘The Voice UK’ and it was big. It drew 7.66 million viewers for 33.7% of the available audience. We’re talking big Saturday numbers here. And it was down 780,000 from last week.

ITV’s coverage of Manchester City match against Chelsea in the FA Cup peaked with 6.01 million viewers and a (31.2%) as the 2-0 Man City victory knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup. The entire match averaged 4.57 million (23.8%) from 445P. The finale of ‘Splash!’ pulled in 3.89 million viewers (17.7%), which was the second most watched episode of the series.

BBC Two with the ‘Winter Olympics’ at 440P had a peak audience of 3.03 million viewers (19.7%).

Whispers on the street in London is that Susanna Reid will move to ITV to front a new Breakfast show. Currently ‘BBC Breakfast’ averages 1.5 million viewers, compared to ITV’s ‘Daybreak’ which pulls in only 600,000 viewers.

Down Under
ABC1 had four of the top six programs, including the #1 in prime time.

ABC1 had ‘Doc Martin’ which pulled in a strong Saturday audience of 1,099,000 viewers. In Sydney it drew 300,000; in Melbourne it had 346,000 watching; in Brisbane there were 194,000 fans; in Adelaide, 133,000 watched and in Perth, 126,000 was the Doc. The #3 program on the evening was ‘Dream Build’ which had 890,000 viewers. ABC1 came in with the #5 program, ‘ABC News’ which was seen by 803,000 viewers. #6 ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot’ pulled in 759,000 viewers.

But it was Seven that was the network of choice on Saturday. #2 program was ‘Seven News’ which pulled in 1.022 million urban viewers. #7 was ‘Grease’ which pulled in 701,000 viewers. And #10 was the rerun of ‘INXS: Never Tear Us Apart’ which drew 389,000 fans.

Nine had the #4 program which was ‘Nine News Saturday’ with 886,000 viewers. #8 was ’17 Again’ with 449,000 viewers.

Ten had the #9 program with ‘Ten Eyewitness News Saturday’ with 428,000 viewers.
