CBS' '2 Broke Girls' Topped All Programming On Monday Evening.

CBS’ ‘2 Broke Girls’ Topped All Programming On Monday Evening.

ABC began the evening with a two hour (8P-10P) episode of ‘The Bachelor’ and The Alphabet Network drew 7.82 million viewers (4.4/8) but it was their 10P star programming, ‘Castle’ which hit the network’s evening high and took the night for ABC. Richard & Kate’s drama drew 8.85 million viewers which translated into a 5.9 rating and a 9 share. The ‘Castle’ episode was not their best but the banter between the two stars is unbeatable as they begin planning their September wedding. This week’s episode featured Castle’s daughter as she bonded with a rock star. It could have been better but it really doesn’t matter to ‘Castle’ fans. It is simply one of this era’s best dramadies.

CBS began at 8P with ‘How I Met Your Mother’ drew million 8.76 viewers and a 5.9/9. But it was ‘2 Broke Girls’ that pulled in evening’s biggest audience with 8.91 million with a 5.8/9 and won the time slot for CBS. ‘Mike & Molly’ again had a big evening with 8.78 million viewers and a 6.1/9 as ‘Mom’ dropped off a bit and finished with 8.11 million viewers and a 5.6/8. Then the bottom fell out of The Tiffany Network’s hope to win on Monday. ‘Intelligence’ just could not compete against the two headed monster of ‘Castle’ and ‘The Blacklist’. It finished with 5.59 million viewers and a 4.0/7 and probably will not make the cut for next season. It was very ‘non-CBSlike’. CBS does not suffer with losers. ‘Intelligence’ cannot draw an audience on its own nor hold onto an existing audience. This week’s episode was good, complex and it set up a platform for future episodes. However, how does a program that is not bringing in new audience accomplish this?

FOX devoted the evening from 8P-10P with the season finale of ‘Sleepy Hollow’. And if you did not see this episode, go to on demand right now. Wow! Twists and turns abound and it drew 6.93 million viewers (4.4/7) and surely will be back next season. What a great way to set up next season’s journey. FOX scored with ‘Sleepy Hollow’.

NBC had nothing until its freshman wonder, ‘The Blacklist’ on Monday. The Peacock Network ran two hours (8P-10P) of ‘Hollywood Game Night’. At 8P it drew 4.72 million viewers and a 3.1/5 and from 9P, it pulled in 4.23 million viewers and a 2.9/4 then it was up to ‘The Blacklist’ at 10P which drew 8.67 million viewers and a 5.6/9. But there is a problem. This show cannot sustain without the constant appearance of James Spader. The other characters simply have no connection with the viewers. James Spader made brief appearances and when he did, BANG. It was amazing. But when he was not on the screen, which was the majority of the time, it dragged. Point: James Spader is the star of this show. Use him. We really don’t care about the rest, especially now that he has discovered the mole inside the FBI.

Discovery Channel's 'Klondike' Drove Big Numbers for the Mini-Series on Monday.

Discovery Channel’s ‘Klondike’ Drove Big Numbers for the Mini-Series on Monday.

On The Discovery Channel, ‘KLONDIKE’, Discovery Channel’s first ever mini-series telling the powerful story of the last great Gold Rush in U.S. history, delivered 3.403 million total viewers on Monday.

The USA Network featured an all-WWE evening. At 8P, it drew a cable high of 5.249 million. At 9P, ‘WWE’ drew 4.995 million viewers and at 10P, pulled in 4.363 million viewers. USA was the top cable network on Monday evening.

The CW at 8P presented ‘Hart of Dixie’ which drew 1.18 million and a 1.0/2 while at 9P, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ came in with 931,000 viewers and a 0.7/1. It was simply not competitive and will be overwhelmed by many cable channels and Univision.

‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ is the first U.S. daily talk show to be carried in China.

In late night, a rerun of ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,’ won with a3.0/8. ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ pulled a 2.1/5, thanks to ‘Castle’s power at 10P. CBS’s rerun of ‘Late Show with David Letterman,’ featuring Julia Roberts drew 2.0/5 for third. An hour later, NBC’s ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat ABC’s ‘Nightline’ averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households which beat CBS’s ‘Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson’ (1.0/3). An hour after this, NBC’s ‘Last Call with Carson Daly’ averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households.

For the record, ABC topped all with 8.166 million viewers and a 5.6 ratings and a 9 share of available audience, some 200,000 above the comparable day last season. CBS finished in second place with 7.623 million viewers and a 5.2/8, 2.7 million fewer viewer than on the comparable day last season. FOX drew 6.932 million viewers and a 4.4/7, losing some 2.4 million viewers from last season on the comparable day. NBC had 5.873 million viewers on Monday evening with a 3.9/6,some 620,000 more viewers than last season on this same day. USA Network drew 4.869 million viewers. Univision drew 3.217 million viewers and a 1.7/3. Telemundo had 1.6 million viewers and a 0.7/1. The CW completed the evening with 1.056 million viewers and a 0.8/1, an increase of 21,000 viewers vs last season on this day.
