‘NCIS’ became the first drama to bring in over twenty million viewers at 8P, when it pulled in 20.65 million. People simply miss Gibbs, DeNosso, Timmy, Ducky, Abbey and the gang. By bringing back one of Gibbs’ long lost loves, a fan favorite, didn’t hurt. Holiday reruns are over. Comfort is back with ‘NCIS’. At 9P, The Tiffany Network introduced a new series, ‘Intelligence’ starring Marg Hilgenberger, another fan favorite on the EYE Net after all of her years on ‘CSI’. The new program, which will take over the 10P spot on Mondays, drew a solid 16.59 million, the largest audience for a new program this television season. At 10P, ‘Person Of Interest’ was back from the holidays and won its time period easily with 12.11 million viewers. But there is a problem here. The program seems to be lost. After losing one of its stars, its main star played by Jim Cavisel, was literally out of this episode. More disturbing, the crazy plot involving all of the wrong people made faithful viewers wonder if this is the beginning of the end of this promising series. Fans were not satisfied with this episode and were not thrilled with the way the program appears to be heading.

The rest of the broadcast networks simply were schedule fillers on Tuesday. NBC was an also-ran on this evening. At 8P-10P, ‘The Biggest Loser’ drew 5.4 million viewers and at 10P, the Peacock Network was saved by ‘Chicago Fire’ with 6.77 million.

ABC led off at 8P with ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and drew 6.48 million, good for second play in the time slot. At 9P, ‘The Goldbergs’ had 5.37 million. At 930P, ‘Trophy Wife’ drew 3.89 million. At 10P, series premiere, ‘Killer Women’ limped in compared to ‘Intellengence’ with only 3.87 million. This along shows the power of CBS as a developer of content that viewers want to see on a regular basis. Not many cared about a program named ‘Killer Women’.

FOX did what it always does. The Animal Network of Broadcast continues to offer limp comedy as a counter punch to CBS’ dramas. It doesn’t work, at least not with this timid lineup. At 8P, ‘Dads’ drew 3.68 million (Look quickly. This was the high point of the evening at FOX.); at 830P, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ drew 3.48 million; at 9P, ‘New Girl’ drew 3.17 million and at 930P, ‘The Mindy Project’ pulled in 2.59 million viewers. That’s called a sliding night.

The CW at 8P had ‘The Originals’ and drew 1.09 million while at 9P, ‘Supernaturals’ drew 1.13 million. For the Little Network That Could, it was a so so evening.

The top cable network, TBS, had the top program of the evening, a rerun of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ which pulled in 3.795 million viewers at 930P which finished ahead of both FOX and The CW programs in that time slot.

OWN’s season two premiere of the Tyler Perry drama “The Haves and the Have Nots” on Tuesday night at 9P delivered record numbers, earning 2.8 million total viewers and becoming the #1 season premiere in OWN history across all key demos. The episode ranked as the highest telecast in this series history.

In late night, not even CBSday could move Jay Leno out of first place. NBC’s ‘Tonight’ drew 2.9/7, slightly ahead of a resurgent David Letterman who posted a 2.5/6 on CBS. On ABC, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ had a 1.9/5. ‘Nightline’ followed with a 1.2/4 on ABC. Over on NBC, ‘Jimmy Fallon’ had a 1.5/5 while Craig Ferguson on CBS drew a 1.2/4. Carson Daly finished with a 0.9/4 at 135A on NBC.

For the record, CBS was dominant and it was #1 with 16.451 million viewers and a 10.1 ratings with a 16 share of audience. It finished even with last year’s comparable day. NBC finished #2 with 5.858 million and a 3.6/7, some 800,000 ahead of the comparable day last year. ABC was #3 with 4.992 million and a 3.1/5 approximately 760,000 ahead of last year’s same day while Univision finished #4 with 3.4 million viewers and a 1.7/3. FOX drew 3.229 million 1.9/3 good for #5, virtually the same as last year on this comparable day. TBS drew 2.783 million viewers, the top on cable. Telemundo finished #6 with 1.4 million viewers and a 0.8/1 while The CW, #7 had an average viewership of 1.12 million and a 0.7/1 finishing approximately 84,000 ahead of the same day last season.

In other news, On The Golf Channel, the LPGA’s new Race to the CME Globe was unveiled Wednesday as a season-long competition for the biggest winner’s prize in women’s golf. A $1 million check will await the winner of a new points-based race that will run from start to finish of the 2014 season.

BBC One brought out ‘The 7.39’ and it rose in the ratings for its concluding episode on Tuesday. Sheridan Smith and David Morrissey’s romantic drama gained over 100,000 viewers from Monday’s episode, attracting 5.77 million viewers (23.9% share of available audience) at 9P. It was the top show of the evening. At 1035P, Terry Wogan’s ‘Secrets of the Bodyclock’ appealed to 2.59m (20.1%) at 10.35pm.

Channel 4 at at 8P had ‘Location, Location, Location’ and it drew 2.39 million (10.1%). At 9P Ch 4 had a new series ‘The Taste’ featuring Nigella Lawson and it premiered with 1.61 million viewers (6.7%).

BBC Two at 8P had ‘Stargazing Live’ and drew 2.77 million (11.7%). It was followed by ‘Stargazing Live: Back To Earth’ with 1.74 million (7.1%) at 9P. Nick Robinson’s ‘Truth About Immigration’ drew 1.37 million viewers (6.3%).

ITV at 8P presented ‘River Monsters’ and drew 2.66 million (11.7%), followed by ‘Weight Loss Ward’ which pulled in 2.28 million (9.7%). At 10P, ‘The Lying Game: Crimes That Fooled Britain’ brought in 2.40 million viewers (9.9%).

Channel 5 at 8P presented ‘Gibraltar: Britain in the Sun’ and it attracted 1.13 million (4.8%), while at 9P, ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ grabbed 2.05 million (8.5%). At 10P, ‘Autopsy: Michael Jackson’s Final Hours’ had 1.47 million viewers (8.3%).

ITV3 at 8P had ‘Midsomer Murders’ and it topped all of the multichannels with 1.02 million (4.3%).
