It wasn’t even close. The American League Championship Series Game #6 in Boston that saw the Red Sox defeat the Detroit Tigers on the bat of the ‘Flyin Hawaiian’ and his grand slam home run to lead Boston to the World Series brought FOX the victory on Saturday evening. It doubled the combined football telecasts on both ABC & NBC. Baseball on FOX drew 8.94 million viewers representing a 5.5 rating and a 10 share. The viewer high was at 1030P with 9.8 million viewers watching the final innings.
Over on ABC, where Florida State trounced Clemson in Clemson finished #2 with 5.87 million.
NBC, which featured Notre Dame defeating USC, 14-10 in South Bend, drew 3.01 million viewers.
Meanwhile, CBS which ran reruns like ‘How I Met Your Mother’ at 8P (2.49 million), ‘2 Broke Girls’ at 830P (2.68 million) and ‘Hostages’ (2.70 million) came alive at 10P with and new episode of ’48 Hours’ and drew 4.71 million, finishing third in that hour and boosted The Tiffany Network ahead of the Peacock for overall average total viewers.
For the record, FOX was #1 with 8.56 million viewers. ABC finished #2 with 5.87 million. CBS edged ahead with 3.33 million for #3 while NBC finished with 3.01 million average viewers on Saturday evening.
ACROSS THE POND ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continued to win in the ratings as it again was #1 over ‘The X Factor’ and others with 9.69 million viewers watching BBC One from 630P drawing 43.9% share of audience. ‘The X Factor’ on ITV trailed by two million, with 7.57 million viewers or 32.9% share at 8P. It was down nearly 300,000 from last week. At 820P, BBC One’s ‘Atlantis’ finished with 4.7 million viewers and at 915P, ‘Casualty’ drew 4 million. At 1025P, ‘Match of the Day’ drew 3.85 million.
On BBC Two, Sir David Frost’s tribute, ‘That Was the Life That Was’ pulled in 1.17 million at 820P. It was followed by a repeat of ‘Frost on Satire’ drew 973,000. A 2008 film ‘Frost/Nixon’ was viewed by 316,000 at 11P.
On ITV, ‘The Chase: Celebrity Special’ drew 2.95 million at 7P. At 10P, ‘The Jonathan Ross show’ drew 3.17 million.
Channel 4 at 9P ran ‘Die Hard’ and less than 1 million watched the old Bruce Willis flick while ‘Pale Rider’ was viewed by 610,000 on Channel 5 at the same time. Proving that in England, Bruce finished ahead of Clint on this evening.
The MOBO Awards 2013 on BBC 3 drew 210,000 viewers while the ‘Family Guy’ marathon peaked with 744,000 viewers at 1210A.
‘The Xtra Factor’ had 367,000 viewers on ITV2 at 1005P. On ITV3, ‘Foyle’s War’ rerun drew 790,000 at 8P.
