Bucky vs Buckeyes Win For ABC On Saturday

The University of Wisconsin Badgers ventured into the land of the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday night and both brought back a big victory for ABC as the network won each and every hour of the evening. The alphabet network won with a 6.359 million viewers (3.7 rating and a 7 share), ahead of CBS with 4.390 million) and a 2.9/5; NBC with 3.021 million viewers and a 1.9/4; Univision with a 1.0/2, FOX with 1.039 million viewers and a 0.8/1 and Telemundo with a 0.3/1 in households.

While all the other networks were running re-runs, only ABC, FOX, Univision and Telemundo were airing new programming.

It is interesting to note that ABC was up over 2 million viewers vs the same evening a year ago (Wisconsin vs Nebraska which drew 4.1 million) while FOX was down 2 million viewers (Texas @ Oklahoma State). Seems like FOX does better with a Big 12 game rather than a Pac 12 football game.

Of note, NBC’s 39th season premiere of ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosted by Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire did 4.7/12 in metered-market households, its highest rating since April 6th.

In an overview, it was all about football and Tina Fey on a Saturday evening in September 2013.

Note: A reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 2AM the night before. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Forty-eight percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.
